Tuesday’s Primary election resulted in the defeat or runoff election of several officeholders who were champions of Texas agriculture and rural issues.
Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) AGFUND-endorsed candidates were successful in 78% of their races, lost in 10% of their races and are in runoff elections in 11% of their races.
Several members of the Texas House of Representatives supportive of farmers and ranchers and agricultural issues were impacted by results of the Primary election.
“Texas Farm Bureau is disappointed to lose several rural champions in the election. These leaders made a difference for Texas agriculture in Austin, and their efforts were greatly appreciated,” said TFB AGFUND President Russell Boening. “There are several rural champions who are now thrust into a Primary Runoff election.”
The Primary Runoff election is Tuesday, May 28.
